Vroom vroom

After enduring the pain and suffering that accompanyed my car going into the shop nearly 5 weeks ago, I finally got my baby back today. The afore mentioned pain and suffering refer to me driving my brothers car to and from school every day. My brother's non-airconditioned, non-radio-ed, non-anything-remotely-extra, non-21st-century Mazda. "Trixie", as my sparkly white Chevy was aptly named by the girls and me, is back on the highway and good as new. It almost makes me look forward to tomorrow's pre-8:00 am drive.

What are rules for?

To keep them, at least when it comes to fashion! Really, girls. It's not that difficult. There are a lot of fashion rules that some of us wouldn't know squat about, and that simply aren't realistic for college girls to be worrying over. But then there are the rules that everyone should keep. You know, like brushing your teeth, removing old mascara, washing your face on a regular schedule, and never never wearing white, open-toed shoes after Labor Day! It's November. I don't care what part of the world you're from, I would bet that it's still November. That means that Labor Day is long gone. I can forgive you the day after, and maybe even the week after. But I can't forgive November. Cold, dry, windy November when all you want to do is cuddle up in a blanket and stay at home, and if you do have to venture into the unwelcoming weather you immediatly go for the warmest articles in your wardrobe. Not white summer pumps with a cute little peep-toe. Common sense should have led the hapless creature I beheld earlier today to select warmer foot-ware, even if she was fashionably clueless. Let's try to do better, shall we?

Given the Boot

I'd just about given up in my search for the perfect brown boots. They had to be just under my knee (none of this ankle thing), leather, with a not-too-pointed, not-too-square toe, and, above all, perfectly fitted. What's that line about the most unexpected places? Voila, le boots at Target. Brown, leather, good heel, good toe, and snuggly hugging my calf. The price certainly didn't blow their case either. A whopping $30. Who would have guessed?

In Now: Burgundy Boom

Found: the new It nail color. Many college girls go with the time-proven pinks or (even more boring) a plain clear top coat just because they "go with everything". If you're looking for something to spice up your mani life, go with a burgundy shade. I've been sporting it for the past week and it managed to match nearly everything I wore. Try Essie's "Wicked" or OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark". Bill coming up? You can grab "Red Raven" by Love My Nails in any Wal-Mart.
